1. Read the rules carefully before joining so you know what’s involved and know that HF is the game for you.
2. If you have questions, first check the FAQs. If it’s not there, please feel free to ask! We would much rather you ask a question than feel lost and accidentally break a rule.
3. Practice good netiquette. Treat others as you would want to be treated-don’t post in all caps. Proofread your posts somewhat-people tend to skip over poorly written stuff-act mature. HF is full of adults, and we expect you to act your age.
4. Make sure to use emoticons when necessary. Since on the net, we can’t see your facial expressions, or hear your tone. Things can be misinterpreted and that’s bad!
5. Just be nice. Don’t be patronizing, don’t correct people unnecessarily, and just use common courtesy. Don’t forget the handy dandy PM function on the boards. Posts addressed to one person should be PMed.
6. Don’t use chatspeak. Everyone here is pretty capable of writing coherent sentences, and it’s pretty hard to read a message like this “I lyke, jst bought 1 horse. Ive never owned ne horses b4”.
7. Got a problem with something? Have suggestions? We recommend contacting one of the officers or posting on the questions forum. If a member is being rude, by all means, contact us, and we’d be happy to mediate.
8. Do not hotlink. PLEASE. It irritates the officers, decreases your credibility, and will get you and us in trouble, and that’s no good.
9. We recommend familiarizing yourself with every aspect of the Forum. It is the hub of all activity in HF. The better you know it, the more success you will have!
