Check out his sire’s siring record! THIS is what his family does!
chranch.twolarrysracing.com/stallions/xzibit_foalupdates.shtml
Xotic is a horse we were so excited for him to be born – and who wouldn’t with lineage meshed like his is? His sire was the Eclipse Award Two Year Old Horse of the Year, a feat replicated years later by his sons. Additionally, he has daughters who were Eclipse Award winners, multiple progeny who have captured Triple Crown and Triple Tiara races, the Grand National, and wins at the Breeder’s Cup. Pairing such a successful sire with Xotic’s dam line was a recipe for success. His dam won TWO Breeder’s Cup races, and was the highly coveted HORSE OF THE YEAR in 2011! If that’s not enough, her own dam Broke The Crystal is regarded as one of the best TB mares to race in HF against the colts, with her two Breeder’s Cup wins and also HORSE OF THE YEAR in 2006. If that’s not enough, Xotic’s dam’s half-brother was also a Breeder’s Cup winner and 2013 HORSE OF THE YEAR.
Since that momentous night of his birth, Xotic has gone above and beyond even his own sire’s track accomplishments. As a two year old, he captured the Kentucky Juvenile, the Hopeful, and the Champagne Stakes – three of the juvenile races traditionally used to judge a youngsters worthiness to the Triple Crown races. His success earned him the Two Year Old Horse of the Year award, something his own sire did nine years prior. His three year old year proved just as elating as it was frustrating – his seasonal running style proved to mirror his sire’s as well. With his Withers and Louisiana Derby wins, it looked like he was set for the Kentucky Derby, but choked. He rallied for a third in the Preakness, but his racing momentum picked up again in the fall, culminating in a Breeder’s Cup Dirt Mile win and earning Three Year Old Horse of the Year! His four year old year was much the same habit, but he captured major wins and purse money in the Suburban Handicap, British Champions Sprint Stakes, and a second in the Breeders Cup Dirt Mile, retiring with over $4.2 million LTE, 36% wins, 64% w-p-s.
Now we are excited to embark on his new career as a jumping horse, hopefully to follow in his sire’s hoofsteps as an Olympic top tenner some day! But more exciting is his potential as a sire – his career was amazing, but can he produce? If he remains consistent, almost like a shadow of his sire’s own career, then we have high hopes for him as a breeding stallion of champions.
Does he sound like a freshman stallion you want to take a chance on?
If you are interested in a breeding, please contact Megan at the HF Forum. Foals must be 2020 or younger as he retired in 2019.
